In early 2019, the Disneyland Parks marketing and operations teams were tasked with finding the right people that could revitalize their iconic park maps. This would require careful considerations of giving the design a new modernized look, but still pay homage to the look and feel that millions of park attendees have become accustomed to for many years. This also included the launch of the new Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure which required it’s own special edition map.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of people associated with the Disneyland Parks. This includes personnel from Planning Directors, Strategic Marketing, Operations, Food & Beverage, Digital Application, Destinations, along with creatives from Yellow Shoes, Disney’s in-house creative team. Each month we gather to discuss updates to the parks and how best to reflect the events, promotions, and landscape to the Guide Maps.
The Downtown Disney develops their own seasonal guide maps to help promote the retail and restaurant activations along with seasonal entertainment offerings. This requires meticulous thought to how best to promote the area and give the feeling of being inside the park without actually entering.
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure host special events such as the Oogie Boogie Bash, Food and Wine Festival, and half a dozen Afterdark events. I work closely with the Marketing and Operations teams to help develop, plan and coordinate these events with the Guide Maps and Foodie Guides to promote retail, entertainment, and food & beverage offerings.
